Essex Ambulance Service Community First Responders

Essex Ambulance service NHS Trust runs a scheme called 'Community First Responders' these are unpaid volunteers who after completing a training course at the Ambulance service HQ's training centre will be dispatched by the emergency operations centre dispatcher after an ambulance has been dispatched
Adam Nelson - Group Link Manager
First responders can attend all but a few emergency calls categorised as urgent. The First Responder, being a local resident should be able to arrive on scene of the incident relatively quickly and provide basic medical care while waiting for the ambulance crew to arrive. They are provided with a kit that includes an automated defibrillator, oxygen and other basic medical equipment.
The Stock First Responder Group went live in March 2006, known as 'ZULU 55' the group is in continuing need of further volunteers and funding to purchase further equipment. If you are interested in the scheme or are in a position to provide funding for it please contact us.
