Chelmsford Community Transport runs three different schemes:

SOCIAL CAR SCHEME This is a door-to-door service for anyone who cannot access public transport, including the elderly and disabled. The drivers are all volunteers and users of the scheme are required to make a contribution to the expenses (dependent on mileage). Subject to availability, the scheme operates all week long, within the Chelmsford Borough, but 48 hours notice is usually required.

CHELMSFORD DIAL-A-RIDE This is a scheme part funded by the Countryside Agency and Chelmsford Borough Council. Chelmsford Community Transport have 3 fully accessible minibuses (2 owned by themselves, I owned by Social Services) which can be hired by anyone who is unable to access public transport. There are 25 drivers available, so groups do not have to provide their own driver. However, a contribution to expenses is required. Subject to availability, the scheme operates all week long, within the Chelmsford Borough, but 48 hours notice is usually required.

MINIBUS BROKERAGE This scheme is available to voluntary groups who are based within the Chelmsford Borough. Chelmsford Community Transport operates 7 minibuses (2 owned, 5 managed for other groups) that are available for hire. A driver can be provided if needed, and the cost is just £30 per day (+ fuel). Subject to availability, the scheme operates all week long, but I day's notice is usually required.
