was a Lance Corporal in the Royal Fusiliers 26th Battn (City of London regt)
60311.The 26th was formed in London by the Mayor in 1915 and was known as the
Bankers Battlio. He was born in Brentwood and lived in Mountnessing.
|He was originally in the Essex Regt (1159) and had transferred to
the Royal Fusiliers. On the 20th Sept 1917 he was killed in action on the first
day of the battle of the Menin Road (near Ypres) and is remembered on the Tyne
