Ronald Stephen Sitch

Ronald Stephen Sitch was a Sergeant (wireless operator/air gunner) with the Royal air Force Volunteer Reserve attached to 51 Squadron (service Number 1444720). At the time of his death they were based at Snaith in Yorkshire and flew Halifax II bombers. Ronald died on a raid and is buried at Retie Communal Cemetery, near Antwerp. He was 21 years old.
Many airmen were shot down or crashed in raids on strategic objectives in Belgium, or while returning from missions over Germany. Retie Communal Cemetery contains the grave of one Commonwealth airman of the Second World War, Ronald.
He was the son of Stephen and Nellie Sitch of Mountessing.
