| Once again a very important
part of community life in Stock takes place. It is on this day that the
community of Stock is invited to join with ex service men, women and National
Service personnel from the area, for a service of remembrance, for those who
died during the wars of 1914 - 18, 1939-45 and in all conflicts since that
time. |
| The service at the War
Memorial will be led by Monsignor Chris Bhooks Priest in Charge of the Church
of Our Lady and St Joseph. During this short service the two minutes silence
will be observed. After this act of remembrance the service will continue at
Christ Church and will be taken by the Reverend Russell Warden. At the end of
this service the parade, led by pipers and corps of drums will march along the
High Street back to the Royal British Legion Hall in Common Road. |
| If you would like to take
part in the parade, please report to the Royal British Legion Hall by 10.30 am.
During the first World War thirty-six people from the parishes of Stock Harvard
and Buttsbury died and ten during the 1939 - 45 conflict. It is in tribute to
them and those who have died since, that this service is held every year. |
